The Norse god, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) stands as the energy dissipates from around him. Above, in the rafters, a lone soldier, a shield agent code named Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) gazes below at the situation, he defends the powerful cube by trying to keep Loki from it; a failed attempt and Hawkeye (Renner) is taken by the Norse god. The staff which he holds powerful energy, enabled Loki to control Hawkeye (Renner). Magic and deception is Loki's power, now he has his own team to combat shield.
The standoff between Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Loki (Hiddleston) didn't go to well, the Norse god had taken the Tesseract from it's place, with the help of Hawkeye (Renner). Nick Fury (Jackson) pulls all high ranking operatives from their respective assignments and sets them on a mission, a team of heroes is needed to protect earth. The team is code named Avengers, this team will serve as earth's defenders, members that are dedicated in serving the people.
Normally i would go in great detail about the film, this time around I'm not going to do that because we all know this story from start to finish. here are the numbers; 207,438,708 opening weekend by country. The gross just about 1,515,679,547 (World wide). 892,400,000 (Non-US). Gross by country (623,279,547), all this it made with a 220,000,000 budget. The numbers as you can see for yourself are pretty good, in fact these numbers are awesome.
Let's talk about why? this film did so awesome. The actors did their job well, a cast that everyone could relate to. Robert Downey Jr (Tony Stark) a well known actor, not only that aspect but he plays Stark so good, the character is peeled from the pages of the comic on to the silver screen. The fan-boys and, the rest of the fans are happy as well. Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Ironman, and Black Widow. The characters had their own films, one way or another, the only exception would be Natasha Romanoff (Widow). Romanoff has been connected to all the film's, Captain America Winter soldier, this enriched story made the central connection to the avengers film. I mentioned Stark because his character rubbed off the wrong way in the beginning of the film, but towards the end this snarky guy in a armored suit decided to help others then himself. The emotional connection with Pepper Potts played by Gwyneth Paltrow and Stark is truly amazing. The way both characters interact with each other you'd think these actors were married.
I brought up the connections, now let me bring up the Director Joss Whedon. The director is the person involved with the actors and the scenes throughout the filming process. The proverbial hawk perched on a high branch, watching, waiting. Whedon in his Avengers film doesn't miss a beat, the direction he took the actors in, is higher then anything i could comprehend. The scenes went smoothly, not choppy, the feeling you get from other bad films; you know those films that jump from one scene to another with no reason, you forget what happened ,why? it happened. Either way, Joss Whedon which i followed from Buffy the Vampire Slayer the movie to the TV series that he created. Lets not forget, the show firefly and film Serenity. . This director, creator of iconic characters climbed the ranks to become the most anticipated director in the business.
The next reason and last one, would be the Marvel comics group. Marvel is the reason these wonderful characters are now on film, in fact i remember back in the 90's the old Marvel films, they were so bad, have no words for those films. Only that it was the beginning to what would become a superhero storm of films that would hit the silver screens. Marvel is not perfect but it sure tries to be; some characters maybe hard to turn into a big budget film but, mark my words, this company continues to try to make quality films. The first thing they did was to grab that creative license. Sony, Fox, just to name a a few companies that have a stranglehold on the perspective superhero characters. The funny thing, is that Marvel is the ones who created the characters so let them call the shots. Not saying anything is wrong with Fox and Sony but for example, i would've' loved to see Even Peters (Quicksilver) in Age of Ultron, not Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the same character. Johnson is a wonderful actor, but changing actors between films drives me crazy, and that is failure in feature films. Even Peters did a wonderful job in X-men days a future past. The studios fight for the characters, which is pretty cool, but changing actors kills the film. Let's hope that Aaron Talor-Johnson sets a different standard and blows away Even Peters performance. Again, both actors are good, but is you're going to use, change actors, then at least make push the limit beyond, let that actor out-perform the original one. Marvel knows this formula, because they tried it with Chris Evens, which is Captain America. Fans, hated the fact that the former Fantastic Four character would become the iconic Red, White, and Blue character.
The avengers is a great movie altogether and I'm pretty sure the sequel would be as well. The film's success by far the creative minds that made these characters, Stan Lee, and all of the Marvel creative teams that brought avengers to the silver screen. See the film, pick up the comic, and do not forget Avengers Age of Ultron, comes out on May 1st 2015.
