The story about a young man who challenges a professor that belives God doesn't exists. Her mother was accused of being a communist; Liesel's brother died on the way to there destination.  Service and a burial was held.   The story of Liesel and her desire to find solace in reading books.  An illiterate girl at first but with the help of Hans she can learn the knowledge she needs to understand her surroundings.  Hans teaches her for two years, her grasp on literature is her only tool she needs to achieve something more than her peers at school. Twelve Years a Slave (2013), Directed by Steve McQueen, Written for the screen by John Ridley.  Based on Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup.  The Film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (Solomon Northup), Dwight Henry (Uncle Abram), Kelsey Scott (Anne Northup), Quvenzhane Wallis (Margaret Northup ), Cameron Zeigler (Alonzo Northup), Michael Fassbender (Edwin Epps), Sarah Paulson (Mistress Epps), Paul Giamatti (Freeman), Brad Pitt as Bass. 1841 Saratoga New York, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor) approached by two travelers, Brown (Scoot McNairy) and Hamilton (Taran Killam).  They meet with Solomon (Chiwetel Ejiofor) with expectations on him performing with them with a Circus; a great deal of money is to be made, all the way to Washington.  The two men watch as Solomon gets drunk, there after he awakens in Chains, wrist, ankles, his gaze is blurry.  A man enters the dark damp room and tells Solomon, his name has changed to Platt. Brothers starring Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman, and Jake Gyllenhaal. Capt. Sam Cahill is deployed to Afghanistan and leaves behind his wife Grace Cahill ( Natalie Portman) and two daughters.  Jake Gyllenhaal ( Tommy Cahill) plays a drunk who just served his time in prison, and is forced to care for his brothers Family while away, but his life is turned when he finds out that his brother is killed in action.  This film puts you in a different place, one brother defends his country while the other is in a different place , no respect from his father Hank Cahill ( Sam Shepard) who also served in the military.  There mother is played by Mare Winningham ( Elise Cahill).  A wonderful cast and a great Film. It brings out emotion and what it means to be in the shoes of a soldier and deal with situations in a brave, inspiring way.  This film is wonderful and should be on your top ten list of war films.  (Different war films).
