Billy (Vince Vaughn), and Nick Campbell (Owen Wilson) are watch salesmen, on the way to meet a "Big" customer, which is held in a restaurant.  "Ironic" Alanis Morissette playing in the car radio.  They stop, feeling excited about the sale they are about get. Big customers, big exchanges.  On the way in they find their guy, he sits smiling waiting for them.  The customer tells them there former business is completely done, because of the technology that they are not currently using.  They must change in order to meet today's standards.
Out of a job, these two friends go off on there own.  Billy (Vaughn) goes home and brainstorms but deals with his girlfriend complaints about his job.  Nick (Wilson) gets a job selling mattresses, with a very cool cameo by Will Ferrell. He conveys the art of sales by teaching Nick the ropes in his strange way. A customer walks in, an attractive girl looking for help, as she confronts Farrell the  "Mattress King" takes over,   Unfortunately his mind is wondering to the women's curves instead of the buisness at hand. The Brainstorming must be working because Billy comes in to convince Nick that dreams could be reality by going to San Diego California.  A life changing experience as interns at Google, but first they must interview online, which they do not know anything about.
The guys must pass a series of tests that will get them on at Google.  The problem is that they are the oldest interns, and the background, for example the University of Phoenix they have enrolled in online is out of there league.  The interviewers asks out of the box questions which throws the guys for a loop, but somehow gets them a spot at Google.
Comedies in general have a formula they work with while filming:

  1. Keep the plot simple, not much of a plot but keep it simple.  The story to complex will not be categorized as a comedy. It might bore you as a viewer.
  2. The humor must have timing, all the comedy must be on the right time sequence.  bad timing will kill the laughs.
  3. The most important and probable what makes a comedy, its the core; that warm place you go when its cold outside.  The thought of hiding while the surroundings are different.  The comedy must pull off the humor by telling the simple story through actions while trying to continue with the scene at hand.  Example:  remember the interview online scene.  Billy and Nick were at the library using a computer they had no idea about how to use.  Trying to convey their experience, and simple message.  Great scene, using many actions, while not boring the viewers.

All in all this film is really good, together Vaughn and Wilson are a dynamic force in comedy.  Some language in the film but it is done in good taste.  Some nudity, but again the scene makes sense, and its also done well.  The cameos of Goodman, Rod Riddle, and Will Farrell are really funny, and i wouldn't say everything in this film is funny, but good enough for a night of entertainment.  Films that are a Vaughn and Wilson classic is the Wedding Crashers. Also check out We're the Millers and The Hanover trilogy.  These are good comedies which i recommend.
