The Conjuring was about a family dealing with an enraged spirit or demon, it claimed the mother, which is horrible, especially when your family consists of all girls.  The women who was deemed possessed, had gone to a paranormal seminar which Ed and Lorraine Warren were the main speakers.  The Warren's had videos, proof of possessions, they even explained the stages to being possessed.  Carolyn Perron had confronted the Warren's about her situation, after that day the Warren's went to the families farmhouse, and conducted an investigation.

Ed and Lorraine had told the family if indeed there is enough evidence then the next step is to contact the church and an ordained priest that has experience in exorcism will be here to cleanse the house.  The main problem the demonology experts had run into is Carolyn and the home has more than enough evidence but the family is in extreme danger.  Knowing the dangers and the problems that can occur, Ed proceeds with an exorcism without the church.

The Warren's had always knew what they were getting into, in the case of the Perron family, faith and the belief in God is the only weapon they have against a high level demon.  The exorcism had all occurred in 1971, a draining year for the Warren's and an experience that will forever mark them.

1970 was the year of the Annabelle story, a young family expecting a baby in their lives, neighbors that are weird but close enough to be really good friends.  Mia (Annabelle Wallis) gets a surprise from her husband, he had purchased a ugly doll, a gift, if it was me i would have it returned.  Mia collects dolls,  her collection is in with the baby crib, all the other dolls are pretty, only one is ugly.  That being said, she puts Annabelle right in between the other dolls which really made her collection looks really bad.  That's like having a Freddy Kruger poster next to a care bear collection, it really doesn't match.

Next up we have the priest, who? looks like he came out of a Steven King Novel, really scary looking dude! he comes across like he was up to something, in a Dick Tracy kinda way, it all begins here from this point. The family attends church, everything is cool, until the very pregnant Mia (Annabelle Wallis) wakes up in the middle of the night.  A loud bang! or something, she gets her husband up, he checks outside and the next door neighbors house.  John (Ward Horton) comes back, tells Mia to call 911, and the unthinkable happens.  No gun, good old John grabs a bat, to confront the evil cult couple that had slaughtered the Higgins household.  Instead of locking the door, inside the safety of her home, Mia walks out, door open, oh! and the bad guys sneaks in behind her.  If this was my family, a gun would be at hand, no intruder will even cross the threshold.  Did i mention that the evil women, the cult's second in command, her name was Annabelle.  Their intentions were to steal the doll, they had conducted some ritual, a summoning spell, that would bring on a demon.

The film's scare factor falls short not because of the acting or the sets, but because it truly wasn't scary.  The demon scenes were pretty cool, the priest and buggy scenes were as well.  The movie people wanted it to be a conjuring, but fell short because it tried too much.  The movie would've been stellar if they used Ed and Lorraine Warren.  The tale of the possessed doll, and what led up to the Warren's getting a hold of it, i guess i feel that using them and the doll in the movie would've been better than what it became.  The movie on its own without the Annabelle tag probably would've been a decent film, but the Annabelle connection made audiences around the globe want more.  A prequel or sequel should have strong links, not just the name or short comments about major characters.  The real doll resides in the Warren household, where they have all the artifacts protected and sealed away from the world for a reason.

Ed Warren died on August 23, 2006, 79 years old Paranormal investigator, Lorraine Warren resides in Bridgeport Connecticut where she still to this day continues to help people who? are deemed unwanted by our society.  These are not characters from a story, they are real people that helped thousands in there crusade of the paranormal.  The Annabelle movie is a fictionalized story banking on box office revenues but the filmmakers forgot about the importance and core of what really happened, real people were hurt, and that counts as something, its what is important to telling a story, or depicting the accounts.
