Three Days To Kill

Three Days To Kill:
Directed by McG, written by Adi Hasak and Luc Bessen.
Starring Kevin Costner (Ethan Renner), Hailee Steinfeld (Zoey Renner), Amber Heard (Vivi Delay), Connie Nielsen (Christine Renner), Tomas Lemarquis (The Albino), Richard Semmel ( The Wolf).
The film starts off with a bang! spythriller.  Ethan Renner has left bodies in a hotel room, just another routin mission from the CIA. A Dirty bomb, the man called the Wolf (Richard Semmel) and his second in command, the Albino (Tomas Lemarquis).  The CIA is in the Hotel looking for a dirty bomb, which was verified by Ethan Renner (Costner).  One of the operatives was recognized by the one called the Albino (Lemarquis), a ruthless killer who knows and always gets what he wants.  He reaches for his gun and shoots the operative, still alive and afraid for her life, she tries to get away, but her efforts are in vain.  The Albino (Lemarquis) pulls the injured women to the elevator shaft half way, exposing her neck and head.  The elevator on the way up connects with her ending the life of the operative.  Ethan Renner (Costner) on the way out notices a man observing the occurrences all to well. A walk to the van, greeted his fellow operatives, and an explosion that destroyed the hotel and many lives. Renner (Costner) in pursuit kills the remaining men.  The Albino (Lemarquis) trying to escape exchanges gunfire with Renner (Costner).  Falling to his knees, and bleeding, a blurry image of the Albino looks down at Renner (Costner).
The Doctor explains the situation to the ex-operative; Cancer has spread to his lungs and has 3-5 months to live.  Afterwards a women named Vivi Delay (Amber Heard) gives him details of a last mission, only this time the situations are dire, he must complete the mission in three days; find the Albino which will lead him to the Wolf (Semmel).  An experimental drug is injected into Renner's arm.  Kill the Wolf (Semmel), and more drugs will be injected. a high severance that will give him a good retirement, better than the Government pension. While being a spy, this dangerous man tries to rekindle his relationship with his daughter, and wife.
From start to finish this film is a real treat, it exposes the hardcore spy thriller and the hardships of being a father, and husband.  The comedy is done well, it mixes with the plot and never overwhelms it.  The story takes you inside the head of a man trying to change his life, but circumstances lead him to continue the life of a killing machine.  The Cancer that has spread to his lungs weaken him, but what makes this film a gem is the spy mixed in with comedy, it's not gets smart but it is a smart movie.
Have to mention Amber Heard who does an amazing job as Vivi Delay. The constant pushing to get the mission done really in a way drives this film forward, it doesn't stop. The plot is so good that it reminds me of the stellar carreer Costner had years ago. This film for me, put Mr. Tin Cup back in the playing field. Check out this film and see it for yourself. Action, great story and if you love to laugh, it has that option also.
