Captain America: Civil War (2016)

Imagine waiting in line for the superhero experience of the lifetime. At least the ticket guy at the theater said the film was worth the wait. Good because, i showed up with a group of friends one hour earlier. Maybe the superhero gig here is not what's it cut out to be, but my guess just as good as yours, so who knows right? So my buddy and i were talking about, Winter Soldier, X-Men, Batman Vs Superman, all superhero movies, before crossing that forsaken Usher dude who wouldn't shut up for anything, but in a good way. My buddies and i  deducted that Captain America: The Winter Soldier was the best on the list, of superhero films. With that being said, it still to this day gives me the chills when the huge flying aircraft carrier hits the ground hard as it descends from the sky. The way the story came about, an organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. was dismantled within, a great story written by Stephen McFeely, and Christopher Markus, based off the comic books by Mark Miller, and characters by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby.
Got to give these guys credit, their stories are the core to this whole superhero thing. Need to talk a bit more about the creation process, because without that process, it loses all integrity. The film's base heroes are the film, but to a point. Sometimes the action becomes the film, and so the film suffers from what i call, "Film Fever," the way the film dies as it is played, meanwhile all the other Networks, movie companies are learning from the mistakes along the way. But, are they? Because Fantastic Four 2 is coming out next year. And to me that crap has to stop, if a film sucks, your done. Finish it, kill it. So why? Are heroes are needed, they come to rescue, bring the situation to a close, but sometimes the problems they have get worse. Some film producers do not know what they started or finished, because if so many heroes are not challenged, everything is easy or to hard, the stakes are up and your film will suffer. Sometimes keeping it simple stupid is a perfect way to go. Just wish the studios can follow suit, because we would have better movies out, instead of really bad films like Fantastic Four, which had potential, but it died at hello, because the director wanted to make a difference, instead of the real focus which is the story.

****Warning**** if you continue to read, please remember there are spoilers here. The spoiler alert is up, read at your own risk.  Spoilers****

The film starts off in Lagos Nigeria, the new Avengers consisting of Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Vision (Paul Bettany), War Machine (Don Cheadle), and Falcon (Anthony Mackie). Thor, Hulk, are missing, or nowhere to be found, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), is playing house and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) is not himself, his feelings towards the missions the Avengers accomplished was either a wash out, or it had mass casualties, an imperfection he'd wish never happened.
Remember the three ships in the film Winter Soldier back in 2014, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Brock (Frank Grillo). The pretty intense elevator scene with the black ops team, well when the ship crashed, and the building blew up, someone came out alive, and became Crossbones. Anyway, the new team is after Crossbones and his team of bad dudes. The action scenes here are done well, probably the best in a long time for action films. The team splits up, one goes after a bunch of guys, while the other the same, only difference is one of the team members comes up with what Crossbones had stolen, a highly contagious virus. Not going into the plot in detail, but i will bring up my favorite scenes in the film. Anyway, Widow has three guys which she takes out, but only one of them puts her in a point blank range situation, his gun is drawn ready to take off her head. The cool scene here was Falcon's drone which takes out the bad guys. Cool scene, that quickly draws you into the story.

The core to the film is basically the understanding of heroes and their powers, the powers will be there undoing , so the United Nations and the United States government will all come to agree that the Avengers will have to be put in check. Their actions will be limited to what the government tells them to do, the vote comes in and some of the team members are upset, and what makes it worse is the way it all came down. The powers thing, scare a lot of people, and no matter what the Avengers do, the difference is simple, actions must be taken into account. Secretary of State Thaddeus Ross (William Hurt) leads the meeting with the Avengers. The team must make a decision or suffer time in prison, or retirement. Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, and Sharon Carter doesn't agree to the Government terms. So it begins the differences between Tony Stark, Black Widow, War Machine, Vision, have their own side, the side of the government. Later both teams clash, and gather more heroes, some younger than others, but indeed the teams form.  Team Iron Man: Black Widow, War Machine, Black Panther, Spider Man, and Vision. Team Captain America: Bucky, Falcon, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, and Sharon Carter. Two teams of heroes that have formed opinions, some are stronger than others. Meanwhile, the United Nations was about to vote in Vienna, the Sokovia Accords, ratified by 117 countries, and a perfect place to kill King T'Chaka (John Kani). An explosion that killed most of the United Nation members, a pretty bad situation. The focus here is Bucky / Winter Soldier was seen unloading a van, which, after facial recognition, the blame went on Cap's old friend. Like i said, the core is established, and set off like that explosion.

Captain America: Civil War deals with pretty big themes, i know it's cool to see our favorite heroes going at it, but the real story is about revenge. What happens when you think you've got a situation under control, and manage to mess it up, because you thought it went well, but the people that were saved in a crisis was all good and done, but what about the folks that were not saved, collateral damage. A cruel word in a game that is played, but the only winners are the people that did not care about who dies, and that my friend is the core. I mean the theme, went deep. More than the action, or special effects. The characters had emotion, everything went from good to bad, in a split second. The story started with the characters, it managed to focus on just one throughout the film, Zemo. A man bent on searching for answers that are only found in a book, words of unique power that will establish some kind of control. The story to me was tight, unlike other superhero films where it jumped all over the place, no control. Captain America: Civil War had control from the start to the finish. The film is wonderful, it is the number one superhero movie on my list, but understand that you must watch other films of the MCU (Marvel,Cinematic,Universe), and then only then will the fun begin. To see these films evolve into what they are today is a beautiful thing. Remember that superhero films are not for everyone, but the Captain America films have a unique draw to those not into the comic or movies. Families could watch without worrying of intense language, or adult themes. There are movies that are rated R, and are really good, but what if the movie could tell a story with all the elements that go with it, that movie is entertainment to the fullest, because it achieved something more, it managed to bring in folks who are not fan boys or, comic book readers. The film is superb because of those elements, and that to me is why this film is number one.
