Opening Credits:

Have you ever had a reason for things to happen and just realize that those things are mundane? Really, not joking. The event in your life was supposed to be huge, but in the end it was just another day. Those days for me are more frequent than most, especially at my age. The film i chose was Wayne's World because it reminds me of the past. The 90's was a very different time. People did things differently. The echo of the past is heard in a distance, it's what i grew up with. The movie had something to offer, but as i watch it, it almost felt humdrum. The laughter of the past i remembered, but couldn't laugh today. I wanted to so bad, to laugh at those huge moments in the film, but regrettably I could not. Not saying that the film was horrible, because it wasn't. It could be because what was funny then could never be funny now. That's what happens to dated films. The Film is dated but it has a sense of nostalgia about it.

Review:

"Well, don't you want to open your present?" -Stacy-

"If it's a severed head, I'm going to be very upset." -Wayne-

"Open it." -Stacy-

"What is it?" -Wayne-

"It's a gun rack." -Stacy-

"A gun rack...A gun rack. I don't even own a gun rack. I don't even own *a* gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack. What I'm gonna do with my gun rack?  -Wayne-

Wayne's World begins with Wayne (Mike Myers), and Garth (Dana Carvey) doing what they do best which is entertainment. The guys begin with their show; Afterwards Wayne address the audience, breaking the fourth wall. He tells the audience that he lives at home, and as he goes through his house, Wayne points at his proud collection of fast food hair nets propped up on the refrigerator. His blue jeans, black cap with the Wayne's World logo on it. The young man is definitely proud of the moment he address the wall, down to the excitement he feels as he continues.

Meanwhile Benjamin Oliver (Rob Lowe)  watches the show Wayne's World while in bed with his girlfriend. She explains the premise, which Oliver is unimpressed but at same time he will feed the information to his assistant, Russell Finley (Kurt Fuller). The plan is to get Noah Vanderhoff (Brian Doyle Murray) to sign on as a sponsor, when that happens the all new Wayne's World show will be his forever.

The film has really great shots, it almost looks to campy, in a 90's way that is. The story is simplistic enough to understand everything that is happening. A good example of this is the way Garth has a day dream. He likes the girl at the diner. By the way Dana Carvey is a great actor, he just nails it every time. The Queen song in the car, everyone was singing the tune. Mr. Carvey unfortunately did not know the words so he just followed along with the other guys. There is a scene, a close up of Garth trying to sing along but it's hopeless. The scene is good because you get the late Freddie Mercury performed by Queen, "Bohemian Rhapsody."

Another great scene is inside the store, a guitar shines among all other guitars. The Fender Stratocaster; The sword in the proverbial stone. The significance of the guitar and Wayne's obsession with it really hits the true meaning of the story. Big hair bands, and their story. Or in the case for Wayne and Garth. The way it started was an in your face story. Here we are! Listen to what i have to say. The breaking the fourth wall deal is so good, i loved it back in 1992, and i loved it in 2016 with Deadpool. The highlight of the story is the way it moved from scene to scene in a wild Mike Myers kinda way. He was the main influence, the backbone. Granted there were some issues that did not get addressed, and by the time Wayne's World 2 came about, the original director did not return because of Mike Myers. Both couldn't get along, and sometimes that happens, look at Deadpool. The director from the first film didn't return because of creative reasons.

Rob Lowe  to Tia Carrere, these two actors did a good job as the big bad corporate guy with a plan, and the rock star.  They worked well off each other, they both did so good you really hated Lowe and loved Carrere, you felt sorry for when the jerk screwed everyone over. Didn't want to but since she chose Wayne everything went bad. The comedy was solid, and what made the film was the goofy characters that became memorable. Garth especially sucked at Hockey, as a goalie he sucked so bad, in a funny kinda way. Oh and did i mention that Wayne's parents were never to be seen in the movie.

The movie does have a bad side, and that's putting it lightly. Let's take a look at the way they mentioned Aurora, but the film was shot in California. The interstate 88 sign was knocked down in the film, the ridicules shots of the city of Chicago which they were never in.  All the way to West cost, which is fine, but why mention Chicago, and Aurora. The character of Wayne was created by Mike Myers in an SNL piece. Which is fine but i'm a big believer in reality. It is a film, and a comedy which can break the laws of reality. But in this case, they filmed a fake scene with the actors doing their thing, and the unimpressive part is that everything looked to bad to continue. At one point they wanted to be done filming so the very last scene was the plane scene. Wayne and Garth addressed each other as the plane flew dangerously close, that whole scene was adlibed.

The movie was dated, yes it was the 90's but it was still funny and that's what's important. What can we do to understand these types of films because there are so many of them, a great example would be the Airplane movies. The Airplane movies are funny, so funny that you'll end up peeing your pants in some of the scenes. The connection of characters and scenes, story mixed into a comedic blend of great things that made the story roll. Wayne's World is just like Airplane; It is funny enough to make you laugh, and there are times you just won't laugh but feel that the scene was to weird, but weird enough to smile at. That's Wayne'e World.
