Extracted (2012)

Director: Nir Paniry

Writers:  Nir Paniry, Gabriel Cowen, and John Suits

Sasha Roiz (Tom), Jenny Mollen (Abbey), Dominic Bogart (Anthony), Nick Jameson (Richard), Rodney Eastman (Eric), Frank Ashmore (Martino), Brad Culver (Garrett), and Augie Duke (Adrienne).

Tom (Sasha Roiz) has designed away to transfer himself into the minds of other people.  Money and time are of the essence, his wife Abby (Jenny Mollen) are in a brink of financial crisis, so in order set things right, Tom (Roiz) makes a deal with a large security firm. The firm will pay a large amount, but, first he must test his design early, by going into a mind of a convicted Killer, Anthony (Dominic Bogart).
Connecting to the mind of a drug addicted killer will not be easy, especially when his design is pushed to far in advance.   Tom (Roiz) must somehow clarify the events leading to the murder of Adrienne (Augie Duke).  His team consists of Richard (Nick Jameson) and Rodney Eastman (Eric), and the voice of the computer, Minnie (Sara Tomko).  The CEO of the security company stands by, watching as the procedure continues.
The mind of Anthony (Bogart) starts off with him running into the house, some pictures in the house are painted into a red x, that represents repressed memories.  He continues, notices Adrienne (Duke) standing in the shadows, he pulls out his gun a shoots her.  The women falls, he runs to the door, end of memory.  The problem occurs in the process, as Tom tries to disengage from Anthony.  The process fails and Tom ends up in a comma.  Four years in the mind, of the replayed memories of a convicted murderer.  Tom (Roiz) must find a way out, before time runs out for him, and the people in his life.

The story in this film isn't original, that being said lets dive right into the review.  The story as i explained is pretty good, i love the fact that the major action scenes are towards the end of the film, that to me says a lot about the direction and plot.  The acting is stellar, down to the security officer leading the antagonist, Anthony (Bogart) in.  That scene really did it for me, because it reminded me of how quick paced we are as a human race.  Maybe if the security firm waited a bit, by lets say four weeks, Tom would've never been stuck inside the mind of a killer.  Tom would've tested everything to make sure his machine operates the way it should. Either way the films direction went well, especially when Anthony (Bogart), and Tom notices each other inside the memories.  The impact of both characters meeting eachother in the story ark is truly remarkable.
Last review my wife, Melissa my guest made a point, she mentioned that in my reviews are filled with the characters, actors all that kinda stuff.  Well to my wife, thanks, but you have to mention actors, and all that stuff in order to review it properly.  That being said, it really doesn't matter, her input and awesome take on the Love Actually film was to the point, sometimes the point gets drifted somewhere, and my wife did a wonderful job finding her way.  Thank You, Melissa for your efforts last month.
Lets continue with Extracted; I mentioned the acting and the story.  The direction was good but, yes there is a but.  The security company pushed the meeting forward early, to many factors made it unsafe for Tom to move forward, but still did.  Inside the memories, Tom was stuck for about 4 years.  Why? did it take so long for him to realize the glitch in the system.  The story really didn't go there, not to complain but its a story issue, and to me it may cause a rift, especially in this type of film. Granted it did take him a bit to get control and get out. Not to much of a compliant, but it will happen in these kinda of films, just me and my opinion I guess.
Overall this film was really good, like i said, it has a small problem, which isn't enough for a bad rating, that being said, alas this film is one of the better films if seen in 2014, even though this film was made in 2012.  Thank You, Chris Haslem for requesting this movie, it's been fun.  By the time this review will be published, it will be next year. Happy New Year!!
