The story begins in the Iranian border, a women archeologist, Scarlett Marlowe (Perdita Weeks), recording herself, as she faces extreme danger seeing that the government has plans to demolish a historic maze of catacombs; this stubborn women continues, even with her guide Reza's warning about the government and there tactics, Scarlett continues down the path, something tells her that the Rose Key is close. Behind the wall Scarlett (Weeks) finds the Rose Key, a bull covered with markings, a historical site about to be demolished, her time is running out, as sirens go off.  Reza (Hamid Djavadan) warns her again, but this time he is ready for nothing more than turning around and running from this place....

Alex Mathis (Greg Grunberg) the exterminator, was in a customer's house, doing what he knows best, but this customer is a happy older lady, sometimes to happy.  Mrs. Jefferson (Lin Shaye), always calls Alex on rodent situations that she may have, unfortunately Alex is very tired, and his extermination skills are a bit lacking, do to Mrs. Jefferson very early call, even after his catch she avoids payment by telling Alex about her social security check, and on top of that he gets a desert from her each time he's here. College kids release a deadly curse that would turn the citizens of a small town into zombies,  To make matters worse the group has there own chants, that begins the ritual, sets it into place.  they are the beginning and the end of the curse; a mocked version, releases a power that is unknown to them.
